South Glen Shiel Ridge

7 Munros along one of Scotland’s best ridges

In a weekend in March we went up to Glen Shiel to do the traverse of the so-called South Glen Shiel Ridge. We had some crystal clear conditions with brilliant views to Skye, Knoydart and Lochaber. Especially sunrise and sunset were something else.

A Scottish welcoming party

Reaching the ridge

The last remnants of the main snowpack meant some tough going in places

Golden hour setting in

Late evening sunrays over Knoydart, Sgurr na Ciche the pointy summit on the left

Sunset over Loch Quoich

The sun setting behind the far-distant Skye Cuillin

A very vague Aurora Borealis lighting up the sky in the North behind my tent

Very glad to see and feel the sun rise this particular morning!

The ridge stretching away to the West in the early morning light

Sunrise over Loch Quoich

Ben Nevis looming above the haze, the sun now fully up

Approaching Sgurr an Lochain, the shapeliest of the 7 Munros on the ridge

This burn was really welcome at the end of the walk
